Worlds and Games

The title menu is laid out by what you want to do. Worlds: your Kinholds (worlds of your own, alone or with up to eight friends), the Riven Lands (the shared world) and Players’ worlds (worlds their keepers opened to all). Games: Custom games, then Looks.

Emberhold leads the Games

Custom games holds every round mode behind one door. Emberhold comes first, its Ranks beside it, then Vesselfall, Forgebreak, Riftfall, Riftways and the Makers’ Trial.

More: Emberhold.

Full screen

On Android phones and on iPad the game goes full screen at your first tap, with no address bar. Safari on iPhone gives a page no full screen: add Riventale to your Home Screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen) and open it from there. A card shows the way on your first visit, and the full-screen button in the corner brings it back. Settings › Full screen turns it off.

The thumb fan

The wheel button opens your emotes as a fan round your thumb, on two arcs, with Chat, Camera, Zoom, Moment, Hide HUD and Sneak in a tray beside it. Press, slide to an emote and let go, or tap one. For the round wheel: Settings › Controls › Wheel: Ring.

Hold to break

Hold a finger on a block and a gold ring fills as it gives. The hotbar’s slots are sized for a thumb, every button takes a fingertip, and every window scrolls under a finger. Sneak works in the saddle.

Left-handed

Settings › Controls › Left-handed puts the stick on the right, and Jump and the fan on the left.

The Lens by touch

With the Builder’s Lens on a phone, drag the box’s corners A and B with a finger, or tap one and move it a block at a time with the arrows.

More: the Builder’s Lens.

New names

Your own worlds are Kinholds; one is a Kinhold. The raid on the Firstfolk forges is Forgebreak (/forgebreak). The makers’ people are the Firstfolk, and the lands you wake in are the middle lands. Two spell trails take new names: Pyregold and Cinderveil. /mode sets survival or creative.

Earlier versions: all updates.
