Riventale is a free voxel sandbox adventure game that you play in your web browser. You build, craft and explore a world of blocks, find the ruins of a vanished people, and face four elemental bosses called the Keepers. There is nothing to download and no account to make.

What you do in Riventale

• Build anything. Every block can be mined and placed. Raise a house, a tower or a whole town.
• Craft and smelt. Turn wood, stone and ore into tools, armour, food and machines with a Maker's Bench and a Forge.
• Survive. Day turns to night, monsters come out in the dark, and on harder paths you have to eat to stay alive.
• Fight with bow and blade. A Recurve Bow, a crossbow, elemental arrows, and a dagger that strikes twice as hard from behind.
• Explore ruins. Old structures hide loot chests and torn pages that tell, piece by piece, what broke the world.
• Tame the Wrights. The machines of a vanished people still wander. Tungsten calms them, and a tamed squad follows your orders.
• Face the Keepers. Four elemental bosses, each with its own temple, moves and second form. Their ores make elemental armour.
• Dress up. Looks changes your character's face, hair, clothes and gear.

The world

Riventale means "the riven land". Long ago a crystal holding the four elements, Water, Fire, Earth and Wind, shattered. The elements were chained by the Firstfolk, an older people of makers, and those chained elements became the Keepers. The tale so far is in the story.

What is Riventale?

Riventale is a free voxel sandbox adventure game that you play in your web browser. You build, craft and explore a world of blocks, find the ruins of a vanished people called the Firstfolk, and face four elemental bosses called the Keepers. What a world holds: a free voxel game in your browser.

Is Riventale free?

Yes. Riventale is free to play at riventale.world. There is no download and no account to make.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. Riventale runs in your web browser. Open riventale.world, press Kinholds, then New world.

What are the difficulty levels?

There are three paths. Easy (the Wanderer): no hunger and monsters hit softly. Medium (the Adventurer): a hunger bar, so you eat to heal and sprint. Hard (the Unyielding): starving can kill, and there are more, tougher monsters.

Who are the Keepers?

The Keepers are Riventale's four elemental bosses: the Rime Sovereign (Water), the Magma Colossus (Fire), the Thorn Guardian (Earth) and the Tempest (Wind). Each one is chained in its own temple and rises again after it falls. Beyond them wait the Titan, the Elemental Core and the Crowned Wyrm. How they fight: the Keepers.

How do I beat the Keepers?

Break the four crystals on the temple towers first: while one stands, it heals its Keeper every second. Then learn the Keeper's moves, keep moving, and bring food and Sunapples. One good order is the Rime Sovereign, the Magma Colossus, the Thorn Guardian, then the Tempest: each Keeper's ore makes a piece of armour that helps against the next. What creatures are in Riventale?

By day, pigs, cows and chickens. At night and in caves, the Waned, Dustwaned and Rimewaned, Slagcasters, Rivenmaws and Gloops; in the far lands, Firstfolk Wrights, Brass Wardens, Shellbacks and Shard-Halo Archers. A torch keeps hostile creatures from rising within 7 blocks. Each one, its tell and its drops: creatures.

What is the Songstone?

A block that plays the songs you have heard in their places. Every player starts with one. Place it, then right click it (tap on a phone) to choose a song, and play one, all, or shuffle. Players nearby hear the same song. More in the Songstone guide.

Devices and saves

What do I need to play Riventale?

Any modern web browser with WebGL, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer, tablet or phone. A keyboard and mouse work best on a computer. If the game runs slowly, lower the view distance in the pause menu.

Can I play Riventale on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Riventale has touch controls: a joystick to move, drag to look, tap to use and hold to mine. If you prefer arrows, choose the D-pad in Settings > Controls > Move with. Can I play Riventale on a Chromebook?

Yes. Open riventale.world in Chrome and play with the keyboard and touchpad or a mouse, as on any computer. If it runs slowly, lower the view distance in the pause menu, then the render scale in Settings > Video. More: Riventale on a phone, tablet or Chromebook.

How does saving work?

Single-player worlds are saved in your browser on your device, up to 5 of them in Kinholds. They save by themselves every few seconds: Leave world in the pause menu goes back to the title screen, and Continue brings you back. Clearing your browser's site data deletes your saves, and saves do not move between devices or browsers. The online world is saved on the game server. Signed in, you can also keep copies of your worlds on your account and open them on another device.

Playing with others

Does Riventale have multiplayer?

Yes. Press The Riven Lands on the title screen to play in one shared world in copies of up to 60 players each: your character lives in one copy, and the room list under the button takes it to another. To bring friends, send them an invite link from the pause menu. Your own worlds, under Kinholds, are yours alone until you invite friends.

Can I play with my friends but not with strangers?

Yes, in Kinholds on the title screen. In the pause menu of one of your worlds, press Friends, then Invite to this world, and up to 8 friends join it straight from their browsers while you play. Or keep a private world on our game server, under On our server: friends can enter it while you are away. Share its code or link, and up to 10 players can join. More in playing together.

Are there rules online? How do I report a player?

Yes: the rules hold in every online world. To report a player, tap the flag over their head, or beside their name in Friends, and pick a reason. Pick Safety for threats, or for anyone asking where you live or for photos. Moderators can mute, kick and ban.

How do I add friends?

Open Friends and share your friend code, or type a friend's code under Add friend. Friends need an account: sign in with your email, Google or a passkey. Your friends see whether you are online and in which world, and can ask to join you.

Money and accounts

Does Riventale have ads, in-app purchases or an account?

Riventale is free, with a short video ad now and then at a break: as a world loads or after you leave one, never during play. On the death screen you may choose to watch one to rise where you fell. The shop sells character looks: they change how you look and give no gameplay power, and there are no random items. Buying needs an account; playing does not. Some looks are earned instead of bought: a Keeper's Mark and an aura for each Keeper you beat, the Riven Circlet for the Crowned Wyrm, and trims for some achievements. The terms cover purchases.

How do refunds work?

Your latest purchase can be refunded in full, in the game, within 7 days of buying it, once per account. Duplicate or undelivered payments are refunded automatically. The refund policy has the details.

How do I delete my account or report a bug?

Write to support@latticelogic.app. The contact page says what to include.

Families

Is Riventale suitable for children?

Riventale has cartoon combat with monsters, Wrights and bosses, and no blood or gore. Your own worlds have no chat unless you invite friends. The Riven Lands has text chat with the other players in your copy; a private world has only the players who have its code. Parents should still decide what suits their child.
